Bob's Big Boy

In 1936, Bob Wian sold his DeSoto Roadster to buy a small hamburger stand in Glendale, California, and named it Bob's Pantry. When he stacked two patties on a triple-cut bun, the original double-decker was born, and so was Bob's Big Boy.

The name came from a cheerful young regular, and the now-famous mascot, a grinning boy in red-checkered overalls, was sketched by a movie-studio animator. Bob's Big Boy became a beloved California landmark and the roots of the whole Big Boy family.
